Do you think this is right: Jim treats Silver well, even though he realizes Silver might have killed him on the plateau?

Jim is a true gentleman. Yes, he knows that Silver may have decided to kill him, but he also realizes the old man really does like him. It's a coin toss. Possibly, Jim forgiveness might make a difference in Silver's life..... it might just make him a better person.
