Treasure Island

After Jim walks into the pirate stronghold, Silver begins to play what Hawkins describes as a "remarkable game". What is this "game" and why is it "remarkable"?

I am stuck on this question on my homework assignment can anyone help please?

Silver is able to manipulate men better than anyone. This is perhaps why we like the villain so much. Silver's "remarkable game" is to keep the mutineers together while, at the same time, save his own life for orchestrating the mutiny in the first place.
