Cole lights a match and burns the shelter, as a symbol of any attachment to those who he felt didn’t really care about him. Cole was consumed with rage. He saw the Circle as a game, the supplies as a buyout, and the huts destruction as a way of rejecting what he believed to be disingenuous assistance.
