Best Answer: Certainly Cole has had a rough childhood. It is quite evident that his father beat him and his mother was ineffective at stopping it. Cole had few boundaries when he desperately needed them. Cole learnt that violence and intimidation were the quickest ways to get what he wanted. If he can get beat up, then he could beat others up. The only way Cole can break the cycle is to learn humility. Cole needed to see how he fit into the bigger picture of life. The Spirit Bear certainly put Cole in his place but it also opened his eyes to the beauty and sacredness of life.
