when does cole realize he is not being sent away from the island
When he refuses to escape.
Again, he's been left alone, and he is making the best of it. He now understands that everyone was serious when they left him...... and he has many things to do in order to make his stay a bit more comfortable and enlightening. What happens from here on in is up to Cole.
