What is this book about?

Cole Matthews is a fifteen-year-old juvenile delinquent from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He has opted for a native American healing circle instead of a court of law regarding his beating of a fellow student. Part of Cole's penance is to live a year by himself in a remote island close to Alaska. This sets the stage for Cole's difficult change which involves encounters with an illusive Spirit Bear.
