At the start of Chapter Seven, the Spirit Bear is unafraid of Cole and completely docile.
Beside the water, not a hundred yards away, the Spirit Bear stood watching him with a fearless and passive stare.
At the end of the chapter, even with Cole taunting him, the Spirit Bear remained calm.
The bear waited calmly as if part of the landscape, like a tree or a boulder, not conceding one inch of space.
