Is Garvey to blame for putting too much trust in Cole?

"It isn't about avoiding jail. Garvey said you go to jail angry you stay angry. Go with love that's how you come back. This is all about how you do something not what you do. Even jail can be positive if you go in with a good heart. I will say this

No I don't think Garvey was misguided.  Garvey is well aware that Cole will make mistakes on his path to self-awareness. I think Garvey saw himself in Cole, when he was younger, and knew this kid had a chance. Every new positive experience, even in jail, was a chance for Cole to reflect on his life.
