Cole`s mother discusseshow cole`s father was beaten as a child,and she says this was a reason for him abusing cole. How is this also a circle?

The circle not only addresses Cole's crime against Peter, it also addresses many of the social/emotional issues Cole has with his family. The circle also ends up being therapy for his mother as well. We see her life improve by the end of the book.
