Explain "champ vs. chump".

Garvey usually calles Cole "Champ," but one day when the two are talking about the healing circle, Cole cites that is only forgive him everything would be over. Garvey calls him a chump and tells him that even if Peter does forgive him...... that doesn't mean that people will forget what he has done. Chump means foolish...... Garvey is calling him a fool for believing that it would be that easy.
