Cole refuses the gloves Edwin offers him to help Cole work. Cole says that he is "no wimp"

"It still bugged Cole That Edwin and Garvey wouldn't help with anything....he put only one (hamburger) in the pan at a time to cook."

1) He refuses the gloves Edwin offers him so that he won't get blisters, citing that he is not a "wimp."

2) Edwin and Garvey tell him that he'll need something more substantial to eat before working, but he says "no" based on what's normal for him- he refuses to admit he's hungry later even though he's famished.
