The speaker of the poem/poet herself

The speaker of the poem criticizes the western society for having a stereotypical view of her as an Indian-born poet. Even though the poem appears to be addressed to one individual, it is safe to say that it is more of a societal criticism.

Welsh critic/Western culture

The title of the poem suggest that it is addressed to a certain individual, but upon reading it the poem is addressed to western society and the cultural stereotyping of people with Indian heritage.
