I don't know the context of "universe of obligation."

Well first of all, acommunity’s universe of obligation includes the circle of individuals and groups toward whom obligations are owed, to whom rules apply, and whose injuries call for amends. In other words, a community’s universe of obligation consists of those its members believe are worthy of respect and protection. So all of those who help or have helped in the past deserve respect when it comes to the universe of obligation. A small example can be when the Miss Maudie's house burnt down the community came out and tried to help even though it seem like something so small, or when Boo Radley *chapter 8* gave Scout something to feel warmer. All those little actions help determine who deserved respect in Maycomb.
