The tone of To Kill a Mockingbird changes over the course of the novel from chatty and innocent to dark and even brooding as Scout loses her sense of innocence. WE follow Scout through her writer's voice of a young girl for much of the novel. Scout is a wonderful character: smart, fiesty and socially aware.
