What does this quote mean?

“It’s all over town this morning,” he announced, “all about how we held off a hundred folks with our bare hands…”

Dill is exaggerating about the night Scout was able to diffuse the mob that wanted to lynch Tom Robinson. Dill had a flair for stories and imagined they physically held the mob off.
