Dill is very much part of the Finch family. He spends summers with them and shares many of Scout and Jem's intimate experiences. Dill has a lot of imagination and he moves the narrative of Boo Radley forward by thinking of ways they can lure Boo Radley out of his house. Like Scout and Jem, Dill sees first hand Tom's tragedy and understands what Atticus is trying to do. Dill seems to not have the baggage of racism that so many other white kids have.
