What does Miss Maudie mean when she says " people in their right minds never take pride in their talents"

Miss Maudie is referring to the fact that people should be humble and not talk about their gifts...... she says this in reference to the children being unaware of their father's shooting capabilities.

Wise people are never too proud of what they can do.
