What does Harper Lee mean when she says; He was difficult to live with, inconsistent, moody. Chapter 12 page 153

I am working on a project and trying to figure out what she meant by this. Please help.

Jem is getting older and does not want to play the games with Scout that he used to. Jem is beginning to have other things on his mind and Scout finds him irritable and moody.
