What does Atticus prove by pointing out that mayella has no friends in chapter 18?

It's in chapter 18 and Im wondering what he proves by pointing out that she has no friends

Atticus is presenting Mayella as as innocent victim..... he proves that in essence, yes, she's lying, but it's almost as if she has no other choice. To turn in her father would leave her with no security at all.
