Well, I guess if you consider shooting him a help.......... then he helped him. Tim is an old dog that's been running around the neighborhood for a very long time. After he gets rabies, Atticus shoots him.

well, in the story atticus shoots tim johnson because he's a dog that has rabies and you can't cure rabies on a dog so since you can't you would have to shoot em.
