What do you learn about the children’s believe in superstitions in chapter 4?

In chapter 4. The kids as in Scout, Dill, and Jem. My teacher is making me explain their behavior.

In Chapter Four, we learn that the children's belief in superstition is very like their belief in local gossip. They believe what they're told. Jem tells Scout and Dill that Boo, "dined on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch, that's why his hands were blood-stained - if you ate an animal raw, you could never wash the blood off."
