What could lee be foreshadowing with the unusual winter?

Snow in Maycomb is so rare and out of place. I think it foreshadows this trial which is rare in Maycomb and certainly should not even be happening (like the snow). The case against Tom is absurd and the townspeople are well aware of Bob Ewell's character. The snow becomes a transition to further ominous events, like Miss. Maudie's house burning, which eventually transition the trial.
