Both characters are very different and exist in different contexts. Atticus is an idealist and intellectually practical. Atticus is part of the white dominant society in a place where he can help someone who isn't. Elie's father seems intelligent but is merely trying to survive in a society that despises him. Both characters and situations are so radically different.
