"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." He explains that if Scout learns this simple trick, she will get along much better with all types of people. I think that is what Atticus uses everyday. This is what makes him so empathetic towards people like Mrs. Dubose and Tom Robinson.
