reverend skykes has second thoughts about allowing the children to stay and listen to the graphic testimony,but ultimately relents to jem and allows them to stay. Why doesn't reverend skykes force them to leave

Reverend Sykes believes the children have every right to hear what is happening in their community. In my opinion, I think he also wants the children to see their father in action, to see the man that the black community looks up to and respects.
