To Kill a Mockingbird

Examine the desciption of Atticus Finch's office on page five. What does his office reveal about his chracter? What could be significant about the use of the work "unsullied" to describe Atticus's copy of the Code of Alabama?

From the description of Atticus' office, we can infer that his tastes are simple and based upon efficiency rather than appearance. The "unsullied" book defines its condition as unread.

Atticus’s office in the courthouse contained little more than a hat rack, a spittoon, a checkerboard and an unsullied Code of Alabama.
