Please Explain what Atticus means by telling Jem not to let his discovery " inspire" him to " further glory?" Is there any reason why Jem might now do as his father says?

After the fire, Jem is shocked that Boo Radley might have provided the blanket over Scout. Because of Boo's intrusive behavior on Mr. Radley in the past, Atticus does not want Jem doing any more schemes to bother Boo.
