Joshua Finch according to Aunt Alexandra was a fine man even though the man was locked up. Of course Aunt Alexandra is obsessed with embellishing the Finch Family history. Atticus tends to tell the truth about his family history. Atticus says that Joshua Finch had tried to shoot the president but was so inept that the gun had blown up on him.
