Locating the author's exact intent in any story is extremely difficult, and maybe even impossible. It is, however, important to take into consideration. In my estimation, Harper Lee does extremely well to let readers understand not only the depth and complexity of racism in the American South, but the profoundly human concern of justice, as well.
