When Link questions Atticus’s judgment for defending Tom Robinson, Atticus replies: “Link, that boy might go to the chair, but he’s not going till the truth’s told . . . . And you know what the truth is” (195). What is the truth? How might the reader understand this situation better than Scout?

The truth is that Tom Robinson did not Rape Mayella, it was actually Bob Ewell who abused his own daughter. Scout is still too young to process this even if she was told.
