The evidence is nothing but circumstantial and hearsay. The prosecution build their case on the obviously stilted testimony of a white girl (Mayella) and the hate ridden crooning of her white father Bob. Apperently the extremely flawed testimonies of these two white witnesses was enough to override any logical facts that Atticus put forward.
