Should Atticus have defended Tom Robinson

I need 3 quotes about why Atticus should not have of defended Tom Robinson. Specifically because of how he had no chance to win the case.

I don't think the point was ever not to defend Tom. Atticus knew the case was next to impossible to win, "Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win." The point was that someone had to try in the name of all that was right.
