Scout and Aunt Alexandra communicate very poorly with each other

This is true. Aunt Alexandra does not share Atticus's progressive ideas and values. She is a product of the old South and holds any of the prejudices that angers Scout. Aunt Alexanda has both racial and gender biases that Atticus did not teach his children.
