I know this is after the due date, but...

SMART: Jem figures out that Boo Radley put the gifts in the tree and sewed up the pants. He creates a snowman with very little snow. He sees the injustice of Tom Robinson's rape conviction.

CARING: He buys a gift for Scout with his own birthday money. He understands Atticus's lesson about Mrs. Dubose. He helps Scout to the pageant and defends her from the attack, as well as he can.

COMMITTED: He refuses to come down fromt he tree house until Atticus agrees to play football for the Methodists. He eats a whole lot in hopes of gaining weight so that he can play football.
