To Kill a Mockingbird

Miss Maudie says that Atticus does the right thing; the thing that many other people would like to do, but are afraid to do. In what ways would you like to be like Atticus? How would you feel about having that role in your community?

I would so like to be like Atticus. I'm not kidding, to this day (when faced with a moral dilemma, I ask myself what Atticus Finch might do? I usually fall far short of what Atticus might do but just thinking about this character makes me feel good. He had the ability to stand up for what was right in the face of overwhelming opposition in a quiet, gentle and majestic manner. I wouldn't want that role in the community because frankly, I'm just not that good.
