To Kill a Mockingbird

Judge Taylor refuses o close the courtroom and says, "People generally see what they look for, and hear what they listen for, and they have a right to subject their children to it..." What does he mean?

From his words, we can infer that Judge Taylor saw no reason for anyone to be kept out of court. The proceeding were public, and people would take away what they wanted to take away.... nothing more.
