In what ways was the First Purchase Church different from the usual white church?

Okay sure. First Purchase church is noticeably shabbier and simpler than the white church. It is old and run down. They have little money for the trappings of church (Bibles, Hymnal books, alters....) that the white church members take for granted. The black parishioners give even beyond what they can afford but the church still looks run down,

"Inside the church, everything is much simpler than in the church Scout is used to, and there are no hymnbooks." Ch 12
