In the last paragraph of page 163, Scout expresses her confusion regarding the town's resentment of Atticus representing Tom. Explain Why Scout has difficulty understanding the hostility of Maycomb's towards her father.

Atticus is merely defending an innocent man. Even if Tom was not innocent, Atticus still has a right to defend him. Scout struggles to understand how racism overrides logic. Many people who condemn Atticus were also helped by her father at one time as well.
