I think "To Kill a Mockingbird" is one of the books that sticks in my mind the most. Certainly the closing scene when Scout finally meets Boo is poignant. The neighbourhood freak becomes a human being and Scout becomes more than a little girl. THey see each other as old friends rather than some sort of epiphany. Scout's simple statement of "Hey Boo", sums it all up. I also liked the fact that even Atticus felt a little bit more enlightened (if that's possible). He understood that the letter of the law has its limitations. I like the fact that although horrible things happen and most all the characters are dynamic in some way, Harper Lee still retains a sense of innocence that I felt in the beginning of the novel. Despite all the hypocrisy and misery in the world, life goes on and there are new things to look forward to.
