Bob was considered white trash by the community. Bob certainly didn't do anything to dispel such opinions. Instead he merely lived up to his reputation as a nasty, lazy and abusive man. There was not much expected of Bob except that he was a drunk and perpetually unemployed. It is easy to live up to low standards and that is exactly what Bob Ewell did.
