Jem really thought that decency would prevail in the Tom Robinson trial. In the end, the jury chose bigotry and hate over the truth. Jem loses what innocence he has left after Tom is found guilty, His face was streaked with angry tears as we made our way through the cheerful crowd (Lee, 215).
