To Kill a Mockingbird

How tension and suspense is created in the novel

Please help! I can only write about the courtroom tension. Are there anymore incidents in the novel which I can write about?

Consider the tension in the scene with the rabid dog.

There is tension between Atticus and Alexandra about how to raise the Finch children.

There is great tension at the Missionary Society meeting, as Mrs. Merriweather insults Atticus obliquely in his own home, then Maudie shuts her up, and Scout notices "a look of pure gratitude" pass from Alexandra to Maudie.

Consider also the tension at First Purchase Church when Lula challenges Cal's decision to bring white children to the service.
