I think the fact that despite the verdict, everyone was aware of the truth. Bob Ewell's 15 minutes of fame were over and he went back to being a social pariah. Helen Robinson was given a steady job and Mr. Underwood wrote a poignant article in the newspaper proclaiming Tom Robinson as an innocent victim. It was a start.
