I think this has to do with the plight of Jews in Nazi Germany. Miss. Gates lectures on the rampant discrimination and ill treatment of Jews in Europe yet in her own back yard, systemic hate and discrimination takes place against blacks every day. Scout has heard Miss. Gates speak ill of blacks in the past.
