How does Lee create sympathy for Scout in this chapter?

Scout seems to be misunderstood by everyone in Chapter Nine. She does what her father asks (well almost) and strives to behave the way he wants her to, but everyone else seems to be making it possible. Her precociousness comes into play here when no one will listen to her, and this invokes our sympathy.
