To Kill a Mockingbird

How do you think most people you know would hold up against public opinion if everyone else thought they were wrong, but he/she thoughts he/she was right?

I always thought that the greatest people in the world are those who stand in the face of overwhelming opposition and do the right thing. Look at our history. People like Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandella have shown us what is possible with non violent conviction. AS far as fictional characters go, you can't do better than Atticus Finch. AS for me? Well I'm afraid I would probably fail. You need to be prepared to sacrifice a lot to be like one of those guys and I doubt I'd be willing to do that.
