To Kill a Mockingbird

Explain what Atticus means by telling Jem not to let his discovery “inspire ” him to “further glory”? Is there any reason why Jem might now do as his father says? Maybe a change in him?

Jem has been shocked by seeing Mr. Nathan Radley helping at the fire and has been even more shocked by the idea that it was Boo who put the blanket on him. Atticus warns Jem not to let these discoveries make him want to bother the Radley family anymore than he already has.
