Animal Farm is directly related to Marxism and the Russian Revolution (1917). The Battle of the Windmill represents the Battle of Stalingrad, and the executions represent the blood purges.

In To Kill a Mockingbird we have leftover feelings still lingering from the Civil War, a distinct difference in culture between the North and the South, and the Great Depression.
