Aunt Alexandra believes fine "folk" are the result of good breeding (they would have to be white of course) and a strong conservative Christian value system. She claims the Finch family is descended from Southern gentry. Atticus knows Aunt Alexandra is full of "hot air" but lets his sister talk.
