Aunt Alexandra moves through town like the grand dame she is..... she embraces her family heritage and takes her place among Maycomb society's leading women. Unlike Aunt Alexandra, Scout and Jem don't ponder the Finches' place in Maycomb's history and don't consider themselves the town elite. They lived in the present and saw themselves as no more than Atticus' family.
